On November 25, at the City Central Library after Av. Isahakyan took place a meeting with poet, translator, honored figure of culture Babken Simonyan dedicated to his 70th birthday.This is not the first time that Babken Simonyan has been hosted in the library.Here he has repeatedly organized literary and cultural evenings , book presentations, matinees dedicated to the statehood of the Republic of Serbia, as well as he participated in the events organized by the library.This time, he was hosted in the library on the occasion of his jubilee, during which the words of contemporaries about Simonyan, his poems, translations from Serbian intoto Armenian and vice versa, as well as songs written by his words were heard.The director of the City Central Library after Av. Isahakyan, Honored Cultural Worker of the Republic of Armenia Hasmik Karapetyan made an opening speech. She appreciated Babken's patriotic mission.In Hasmik Karapetyan's speech, it is said: "Dear Babken Simonyan, Your merit is great, your work is sacred...You are the modest person who conveys patriotism and strength to the reader with each new book.A person full of life, energy and plans, who managed to create a friendly, cultural bridge between the Armenian and Serbian peoples.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Serbia to Armenia Mrs Tatiana Panayotovic-Cvetkovich, was present at the morning ceremony. He spoke admiringly about the writer's long creative career and the activities of the honorary consul, highly appreciating Babken Simonyan's literary merit and great contribution to Armenian-Serbian relations. On behalf of the Government of Serbia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy and himself, he thanked the jubilee for the extensive activities carried out by Babken Simonyan over the past 47 years. During the event, the readings of poems were sounded with Serbian lyrical songs, notes about Babken Simonyan by well-known Armenian and Serbian intellectuals. According to tradition, at the end of the event, Babken Simonyan read Yeghishe Charents' poem "I love my sweet Armenia's" in his Serbian translation.
