“Zohrap”: A play devoted to the soldiers of Nagorno-Karabakh war


    On May 6, 2007 the City Central Library hosted the students of #1 public school of village Karmirgyugh, Gegharkunik Region. The students performed the play “Zohrap” written by Norik Gapoyan, directed by Armenian language and literature teacher Lilit Melkonyan. The play is devoted to late soldier Zohrap Shehoyan and to all the freedom fighters of Nagorno-Karabakh war. An opening speech was made by the director of City Central Library, Honorary Worker of Culture Hasmik Karapetyan. She congratulated everyone present at the hall on the occasion on “Triple Holiday of May” and expressed her hope that Armenia would celebrate many new victories. Another speech was made by the Headmaster of #1 public school of village Karmirgyugh Karine Shahbazyan. A musical number was performed by duduk player Norayr Gapoyan. The guests of the event were Adviser to the Minister of Culture Vahe Eghiazaryan, writer, public speaker, editor of the journal “Hayastan”, Honorary Journalist of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Nikoghosyan, former governor of Karmirgyugh, company commander Ashot Nikoghosyan, Artsakh War veteran, Major General of Gavar branch of the Yerkrapah Union Ashot Gasparyan, community leader of Karmirgyux Hakob Gasparyan, advisor to the director of the Literature and Music Museum after Yeghishe Charets Hamlet Hakobyan, veteran of “Artsive -Mahapartner” battalion Spartak Matevosyan, actor, the president of “Nakhabem” cultural-education association Garik Khazaryan and others. After the event Hasmik Karapetyan presented the performers with books and a certificate of gratitude for participating in the program “The Victories of May”.
