On April 21 excerpts of classical Armenian poetry could be heard in backyard of the City Central Library after Av. Isahakyan. The library was celebrating World Poetry Day. The decision to proclaim 21 March as World Poetry Day was adopted in 1999 at UNESCO’s 30th session which was first held in Paris. The decision reads as follows: “Poetry can answer the deepest and the sharpest psychological problems that a human faces, but it will require the attention of the widest possible layers of society”. Despite the cold and windy weather the staff of the City Central Library after Av. Isahakyan, according to the tradition, had organized “Poetry Tsarzardar” in the library. During the event the readers, as well as by-passers, were putting down pieces of their favorite poems on “leaves” and hanging them on the nearby trees. All the participants were excited to participate and left with warm words of gratitude.
