Meeting with Mr. Naji Naaman


    On September 30, 2015 the YCCL held an honoring meeting with humanist, writer, culture promoter, translator, publisher, the founder of the “Naji Naaman Cultural Institution” and great friend of Armenian nation Naji Naaman. The guests of the event were Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary H.E. Mr. Jean Makaron, the Head of the Near and Middle East Department of the Ministry of Diaspora Levon Antonyan, Lebanese – Armenian Businessman Grigor Dakesian, cultural workers and many readers. At the beginning of event the guests were offered to watch video material devoted to the 100th Centennial of Armenian Genocide. After that they were greeted by the director of the YCCL CNCO, Honorary Worker of Culture Hasmik Karapetian. She thanked the Lebanese people for they support to Armenian people during our hard days and Mr. Naaman for the books that he presented to the library. Mr. Naaman had written a poem called “I'm Armenian”, which was translated by writer, public speaker Babken Simonyan and which was read during the event by actress, reciter Gayane' Samvelyan. His biography and books devoted to Armenians were presented by historian Gevorg Yazchian. He made a special reference to his new book “Hundred… and Continuous genocide” devoted to the 100th centennial of Armenian Genocide. Its value is colossal, as it contains complete testimonies of famous foreign political and social workers. Speeches were made by Armenian Diaspora writer, public speaker, social worker Toros Toranian, writer, translator Babken Simonian. The guests were honored to hear the speech of Mr. Jean Makaron, who mentioned: “Armenians have taken part in many important issues in Lebanon but never were an issue for us.” The concluding speech was made by Mr. Naji Naaman himself. He thanked the Armenians for their hospitality and added; “Long Live Lebonan! Long live Armenia! Long live the culture, the international weapon of piece.” Adding as well “I'm Armenian!” Good news were conveyed at the end of the day: Mr. Naaman was presented by medal “Acknowledgment” from the president of RA.
