Western Satire


    October 21 was a day of Western-Armenian literature in City Central Library after A. Isahakyan. The event was devoted to the presentation of satirical DVD “Looking into the mirror, I die from laughing”, which, according to poet, literary critic and candidate of philological sciences Arthur Andranikyan, included the works of three masters of satire, namely Hakob Paronyan, Ervand Otyan and Nshan Peshiktashlyan read by Aida Asaturyan.
The director of City Central library after A. Isahakyan and an Honored Worker of the Culture of RA Hasmik Karapetyan came up with the opening and closing speeches: “In terms of the research of Wester-Armenian literature, spreading, republication and preparation of literary-critical articles Arthur Andranikyan in one of the unique intellectuals in Armenia. The proof of it is his numerous manuals. He is not only concerned with the problems of spreading Western-Armenian literature but looks for and offers new and modern ways. The best expression of his projects is “Western-Armenian Satire” DVD filled with beautiful illustrations.
The author of the project Arthur Andranikyan mentioned: “Looking into the mirror, I die from laughing are Paronyan’s words. Our tree of satire is presented on the cover of the DVD including the portraits of our masters, namely Hakob Paronyan, Ervand Otyan and Nshan Peshiktashlyan”.
The audience enjoyed the works of Hakob Paronyan and Ervand Otyan through a video clip, and Aida Asaturyan read extracts from Nshan Peshiktashlyan’s works.
